Less is more Challenge Week 3

Well no one say it would be easy.....and I agree.....can't say is was quick either.....but I've enjoyed making my card for the Less is more challenge which theme this week is Spring.

I used a flower from Darkroom door Viva La Flora collection and the sentiment is PC generated - I have to say with much trial and error and still not sure if I have it right!  The cardstock is a textured linen which gave a nice finish to the inked square - this was done with just a pressing of my Mustard Seed distress inkpad straight onto the card, which I then lightly heat embossed and adding three small gems, but I think the square is too high or the words to low (?) and the proportions slight out!  If I have time I might try again!!

Thanks for your comments last week, I'm afraid I did not manage to get round to all, but will try to this week.  Look forward to see your "Sping" interpretations.

Your sentiment placing looks great to me, wish I could do it. I love the way the head of the flower is placed over the colour on the background

My first reaction ... Oh Yum... fabulous card Eileen, love that square, love that flower..(love Darkroom Door). Love everything,... then I read your comment... looking from afar I don't think the square is too high... I don't really think the sentiment is too low... well maybe just a tad, but the only way to tell would be to do another and compare!
I think it's beautiful!
I really appreciate you joining in again my friend, thank you!

Ikki I just adore your card the way only the head of the flower is on a background.. Your computer generated sentiment is brilliant, I'm going to have a play with this also.

As you say 'no one said it would be easy', maybe if the square and flower came down a bit closer to the wording and then the whole thing moved slightly to the right??
You won't really be able to tell until you try it and when working directly onto a card - well what can I say, easier being able to move bits of paper, card and embellishments around and check before you stick it all together but then that isn't what this challenge is about is it. I've been doing a bit of trial and error putting text direct onto a card - more error than trial I fear!! My results may be posted tomorrow or maybe not ...

Fantastic card Ikki!
you sounded like me when I was trying to figure out mine!
I think its just brilliant, but I may possibly say the brings forth the flowers could go a bit higher
BUT having said that, it couldn't improve it!
Thanks for your continued support Ikki

Hello Ikki, I do like this card a lot and for me it doesn't need improvement. Maybe you are being just a bit picky and perhaps the square could be placed a bit further down but I still think it's lovely - it must be difficult to work out where to print the sentiment to get the stamping just so. hi! Your concept is wonderful- as so many of your ideas are. ?My opinion? The square and the sentiment+ :)great idea!!+ are pretty much within the "rule of thirds". The only change I might try would be to shorten the stem of the flower to maybe 3 or four threads of the linen pattern beneath the lowest part of the "S".
Always a joy to visit your blog and the changes you've made are terrific- thanx for taking the time to do so!

Hi Ikki - if you hadn't said anything, no-one would have questioned it - looks lovely. I love the idea of a simple square with a black silhouette over it. Delish! x

If I were being very critical and had made your card, I would have wanted to move the square up a tiny bit too, but only because you pointed it out. I think its a lovely composition and love the effect of direct to paper technique on the linen paper.

I think it's perfect as it is, but aren't we all too critical of our work.

I think this is a lovely card - really I do - there is no need to move the sentiment or the placement - just wish I had your talent...

Kudos to you for working with the WORD placement to make your card! I've done it before and it does take me several tries before I get it right. I think I might have "scrunched" it all a bit closer together (the yellow block and the sentiment), but that doesnt' necessarily mean it would improve it, but I'd have probably tried it anyway! LOL! You really did do a good job on this card!

I think this is so beautiful. Love the idea of using the inkpad square. Also the wording is perfect.

This is fabulous and I like it just the way it is. I would agree with Chrissie though the only way to see if it could be improved would be to do another and compare - if you do can we see the result please?

I think it's a lovely card. The texture of the linen card base is super and really shows through on the square. I love the additon of the square gems to echo the inked square!!

I think you might be right about the positioning of the horizontal text - perhaps a tad higher - would be slightly more on the thirds line!! However, you'll only know by making another to compare!!

I too think you've created a lovely SPRING card! With regards to the placement....It would be interesting to see how your card looks with the yellow square a little lower....but really overall this is a very pleasing card.

Great card Ikki - love the way the first word is vertical to the stem of the flower - really impressive.

Hi Ikki

Well I like it just as it is. The "Rule of Thirds" someone else mentioned helps keep things in proportion. I only mention this to try and help with placement in the future.

Love this - very classy-looking! Pressing a Distress inkpad onto the card is a great little trick for a square on CAS card, isn't it? I think you may be being a total perfectionist on your placement, it looks great as it is (that said, I can also see that a fraction down on the square so the petals don't quite graze the bottom edge might achieve the perfection you're seeking!)

I really like your card, I don't think there is a problem with your positioning at all. I really like your idea of pressing the Distress inkpad directly onto the card to form the square. Must try that. Sue.x
