Cuttlebug Sandwich List when using Embossing Folders

Sandwiches to use when Embossing Folders in your Cuttlebug.

Over the last few months I have received many requests for information on the Sandwiches I use in my Bug for embossing and die cutting. These I have replied to direct, but since I have been looking at how to make the Cupboard's contents easier to find, I have decided that the subject of Sandwiches needs tackling as a list.  This is the way I use to emboss folders.  I'm not saying it is the only way, but from my experience of Cuttling, they do work.  BUT, NEVER FORGET TO GOLDEN RULE!

EMBOSSING FOLDERS

A PLATE / B PLATE / FOLDER WITH CARD wrapped round the back of the folder/ B PLATE

NB: The card can be wrapped round the back of the folder, but if possible I perfer to run the card through with just the part to be embossed inside the folder. The reason for this is because most of the Provocraft folders are sized 5.1/2" x 4" (just right for the US market, but smaller than the A6 size we use in the UK) so to avoid creases, lines, and also stretching of the card, embossing only a single layer helps. There are other makes of folders: Crafts-too-you and Sizzix that are 6" x 4". These folders are less likely to cause the creasing because the folder encases all of an A6 card.

Also to avoid creasing you can use my method of a Modifying Folder Pad (see labels). The MFP replaces the top B Plate.

EMBOSSING SMALL FOLDERS (2" X 2")

NB: The trick I use to get the small folders to emboss somewhere other than the edge of the card, is to split the folder. Then by holding the card to a light you can see to match the folder's pattern. It is easy to rejoin it again with tape, so you are not spoiling your folder, YOU ARE JUST MAKING IT MORE USEABLE!

EMBOSSING BRASS STENCILS

A PLATE / B PLATE / TAN MAT/ CARD with the right side up / BRASS STENCIL / SHIM's (this can depend on the thickness of the stencil)/ B PLATE

I hope you will find this list useful, especially new owners of the Bug.   I cannot give information on the Sandwiches you should use for other die cutting machines because I do not have the experiece to do so, but I do know that all the Cuttlebug and other folders can be used in all machines.  Over the next couple of days I will be posting further list of Sandwiches for die cutting and embossing die cuts.
