Hi

Hi, Thanks for dropping by.

My name is Eileen but to friends in the card making world I'm known as 'ikki'. (which is pronounced I-KEY) From where or how this came about I'm not sure - it just got shorten from my original craft name of Ikemo by various friends along my crafting way! I started crafting whilst recouperating from an accident, and from my first attempts with peeloffs and paint - I was hooked! Now my passion is my BUG! and now BEADING!

In the Cupboard you will find ideas, news, tips and techniques to help you get more from this fab little machine. So come in - join the fun and Cuttle with me!

New Cuttlebug viz Joy Trouvaille

Today on Create and Craft they are highlighting the new Cuttlebug - it really is a stylish fab looking machine!  But, how sad (for me) that although they have improved the machine - it's lighter and the handle can be slotted back into the machine when not in use, they have not made the actually embossing size (ie the roller size) any bigger.  It's still 6"!   AND, they have not included the C Plate in the price.  If you are considering buying - be aware that you need this plate if you are thinking of cutting dies. The price of the machine is £99.99 + postage £2.99 (or £2 if ordered on the net) and does include 9 embossing folders - but most are Christmas themed!

You may be asking why I would like a larger aperture size than 6".  Just a personal preference! It's because I like to be able to emboss straight onto my card base and move my folders to emboss in different areas otherthan all over and with the new 7" x 5" folders you cannot do this unless the card is wrap round the embossing folder, which restricts the use of the folder - it will only go through one way! AND, even the demonstrators were having difficulty this morning with their new Plus folder that emboss and cut when they were putting them through with just one piece of card, hopefully they will have perfected their technique later in the day!  If you only emboss on a piece of card - no probs.

For me it's the new Joy Trouvaille machine and I hope to have mine by the end of this week.  This machine is defo not pretty nor stylish - but it does have the ability to take A4 cardstock and will make embossing wherever I want a dream!  I have even invested in 2 sets of the Grand dies - large cards - no prob - watch this space - I have ideas running round my head.  (Just hope my Bug will love my new Joy has much as I still love my old Bug).  The price of the Joy from Make a Lasting Impression is £87.00 with postage (48 hour delivery) £12.50.

Talking of large cards - the template for my Belle of the Ball card is on my list of "to do".

Thanks for dropping by, have a great crafting day and don't forget to tune in to C&C later today and check out the NEW Bug.  See what you think....and let me know.

Keep the info coming PLEASE.
Have watched the show didn't realise the C plate wasn't included! Very naughty!! I have been looking at the Grand Calibur but will need to know more about it before I take a plunge with anything else!

Hi Ikki, just watched some of the 10o'clock show and thought it was embarrassing that the demonstrator didn't seem to be able to use the cuttlebug. He was having to use a pokey tool to get the cut piece away from the card!!! Can't imagine they'll get many buyers for it.

Hi Ikki

I'm very surprised that the Cuttlebug hasn't followed the trend for bigger machines, so short-sighted of them. I got a Grand Calibur for Xmas and love the large surface. I know it's US Letter sized rather than A4 but I haven't found that a problem so far.

Thanks for that information - I too was surprised that they hadn't increased the size of the Bug. Will be interested to hear how you get on with your new toy.

Hi Ikki, caught the 1pm show and did like a few of the folders. The demonstrator made me smile when he couldn't get the card out from the dies, guess he should try Bluetack. I won't be ordering as I already the original bug however like you I thought they would bring out a larger machine to take A4.

Be interested to see how you get on with the new machine. Love what you do with your Bug, will this enable you to take your craft to an even loftier height?

Hi Ikki - you are going to be soooo delighted with your new Joy machine. I got mine from Liz before Christmas and it's AMAZING!!! As you say, it's not the prettiest on the block but it works. The most amazing thing is that when you use nesties to cut card it also embosses on the same pass through - so no need to pick up and put on different plates etc. It's truly brilliant and my poor Big Shot is sulking in the corner.........

Ah so very exciting Ikki, a new machine to take A4 - YUM! I am a tad green (like my bug I guess!:D) they are not available over here in Oz and not sure when they will be, as post is a killer and could not justify getting a new one just yet. I am surprised they had trouble with the plus folders.. mind you, I had to adjust the sandwich (to one C + 2 shims one thick, one thin)as you cant do it how they said on their site with the bug. I have a Brocade Window on my post of WOYWW last week and it is gorgeous.. a must have folder I think!! you would love it as it is so large..and versatile..
Thanks for all your wonderful help over many visits here,..love the cupboard and recommend it to all my crafty friends,

Hi Ikki, glad to know you bought this machine, I bought mine last August and with my grand dies it works beautifully. Being a large plate I can use more than one die on it and I find it very stable. It does all that is said it will do and I am very happy with it. Just one more thing, I love your card ideas and tips. Best wishes, Marge.

I noticed this too, no C plate and same size too so I think I'll pass. Tuck in handle would be good, but no other benefits. I'll hold off getting a bigger machine too for a wee while, watch how you get on and wait for an update on how it performs. The new one you're getting doesn't look as cute as the wee bug, but looks won't matter if it creates what you want it to.

Hi Ikki

I was really disappointed that the new cuttlebug won't be any wider in terms of the rollers/feed. I also learned the other day - quite by accident when looking at one of the Spellbinders DT videos on youtube that a commenter said that the Grand Calibur will only take spellbinders dies. Have you heard this?

I'm considering the Joy Craft machine after communicating with Liz.

Please keep bringing us more it would be great if there were a flood of more of this kind on machine on the market - from a crafters point of view. More choice would hopefully force prices down.
