Hi

Hi, Thanks for dropping by.

My name is Eileen but to friends in the card making world I'm known as 'ikki'. (which is pronounced I-KEY) From where or how this came about I'm not sure - it just got shorten from my original craft name of Ikemo by various friends along my crafting way! I started crafting whilst recouperating from an accident, and from my first attempts with peeloffs and paint - I was hooked! Now my passion is my BUG! and now BEADING!

In the Cupboard you will find ideas, news, tips and techniques to help you get more from this fab little machine. So come in - join the fun and Cuttle with me!

Tippy Thursday - Solve a problem of breaking fibres

Hi ,Tippy Thursday again and I have been asked by Jo if I can answer a question following a comment I made on embossing decorative paper in an embossing folder.

I have covered this before, but even I can't find it!  It must have been pushed to the back of the Cupboard shelves, or my labelling system has gone wrong!  So I'll begin again.....

Both Jo and I have experienced the same problem of Sizzix folders creasing and breaking the fiibres when embossing.  Whilst the embossing is lovely, it is a very heavy pattern, and this is the problem!  I have tried with various weights of cardstock, never completely satisfied with the results, until I tried the same trick of adding a piece (or 2) of copy paper over the top of the card.  This lessens the depth of the embossing on the actual card and eliminates the problem.  Jo, give it a try and see if it works for you.

There is a 'search button' on my sidebar and you may find it useful  if you have a query on anything to do with embossing or die cutting.  If you have no luck, please let me know by leaving a comment.   If you have found the answer to a problem......again, please let me know.....sharing my own and your experiences is what the Cupboard is all about, and with your help I will be able to keep it going to become a treasure trove of ideas, inspiration, tips and ANSWERS!

Have a great day whatever you are doing, but I hope it's crafting!

I haven't had this problem on card just really thin paper but sometimes thats what I want it to do and I even damp the paper so it breaks a little, only with card though.

Thanks it's a good tip - I once had a huge problem with vellum and this technique might have helped.

Thank you Ikki for posting an answer to my question/problem. In the past, I have tried different weight cardstock (and different brands) but to no avail, so I will try your solution and see what happens.
Thanks again sweetie!! :-)
