Hi

Hi, Thanks for dropping by.

My name is Eileen but to friends in the card making world I'm known as 'ikki'. (which is pronounced I-KEY) From where or how this came about I'm not sure - it just got shorten from my original craft name of Ikemo by various friends along my crafting way! I started crafting whilst recouperating from an accident, and from my first attempts with peeloffs and paint - I was hooked! Now my passion is my BUG! and now BEADING!

In the Cupboard you will find ideas, news, tips and techniques to help you get more from this fab little machine. So come in - join the fun and Cuttle with me!

Joy Trouvaille A4 machine

This......machine keeps cropping up!   Another crafter has contacted me regarding the breaking of this machine.  If you are also having problems, or just looking for information, you will find a list of all the posts (including a questionnaire) on my sidebar under "Joy Trouvaille".

I have found that the machine works okay with die cutting, and embossing masks, BUT it does NOT  like embossing folders!   And, I would definitely NOT recommend you use it for this purpose, which makes you wonder if it's worth buying??!?!??!?!?  It was a similar situation with the Grand Calibur until they made a new plate which you had to buy as an addition.  If you didn't want to buy the new plate, the suggestion was to emboss with a number of shims, this could possibly work with the JT!? but I have given up on the embossing with it.

Sorry to sound so down on this because the thought of a A4 embossing machine sounds great and would be if it worked!

Just to say that I went to buy the JT and a couple in the shop said to go for the Grand Calibur as this was their 3rd time of bringing it back to the supplier. Needless to say I took their advice and I'm so happy with the GC, it really does it all. So Ikki I think what you have said may do others a big favour. Hugs Rita xxx

Hi Ikki

I've just bought the new embossing-folder plate for my GC - love it! I was able to use folders in the GC previously by using the universal adapter plate which I have for the Wizard - but it's so much easier now.

Thanks CraftyJo, it's good news to hear that the new embossing folder plate works. Pity Spellbinders didn't check out embossing folders suitability before they launched the GC - then buyers wouldn't have to fork out again for a new plate! Thanks for sharing that the universal plate for the Wizard will work in the CG.

I think if I wanted an A4 machine which would be so useful I know I would go for the Big shot Pro which I know is larger (cuts 12" square) and a little more expensive but I've found my BS so sturdy and reliable and it will take varying thicknesses of dies for cutting which I understand isn't the case with the JT or the GC.

Hi Ikki, it's frustrating this news....my question is....how did Joy crafts react on your complains? I know someone who is in the dt team and maybe I can mean something in this matter. warm greetz, Miranda

Hi Miranda, Joy Craft response to my complaint and numerous emails was complete silence! It was the wholesaler who eventually supply me with new gears, which also broke. In the end the gears were redesigned and have since worked for certain operations.

Sorry to hear you are still having issues with the machine, I am waiting for an A4 machine that will take my bigger sizzix dies.

Hi. I got a Happycut A4 which came with a special plate for folders. The Happycut is very like the Trouvaille but white. It has been OK for me so far, although I still my BigShot the most.

I'm sorry to hear of your problems Eileen. I remember the same company coming in to the embroidery machine market with a much more affordable machine. I remember the problems with faulty machines and poor customer service and these machines cost an awful lot more than the cutting machine for papercrafts... If you Google you can find reviews which tell the story. For me Joy is a name to be wary of in crafts:(

I've just acquired a Joy Trouvaille machine & through trial & error found the right combination to use with embossing folders. I used the C plate as the base plate then the embossing folder then a piece of thick card for the MBossabilities folders & 2 pieces of thick card for all other embossing folders. Hope this helps (",)
